Ex-LABOUM Yujeong Exposes Yulhee’s Premarital Pregnancy “No Phones for 4 Years, Got Caught Using One in Secret”
On April 4, a video titled “We Invited 3rd-Gen Idols and Military Queens!” was uploaded to the YouTube channel “CONSO“.
LABOUM and Lovelyz, who debuted around the same time, were mentioned. Lovelyz’s Ryu Sujeong, who is close to Yujeong, shared, “Back when we were active, it was standard to promote on music shows for long periods—usually around two months. We’d always greet each other during those times, but it was hard to get close because both teams had their phones taken away.” Yujeong confirmed, “That’s true. So we only met up after our 7-year contract ended.”
Surprised, Nam Hoyeon asked, “You couldn’t use your phones at all for 7 years?” Both idols replied, “We couldn’t use them for about 4 years.”
When asked whether they really never used a phone during those four years, both firmly said, “We didn’t” and “When they said not to, we didn’t.” Nam Hoyeon then bluntly asked, “Then if LABOUM wasn’t allowed to use phones, how did Yulhee end up getting pregnant?”
Yulhee left LABOUM in 2017 after becoming the first idol to announce a premarital pregnancy while active, with F.T. Island’s Choi Minhwan.
Yujeong responded, “She hid it and got caught.” Choi Sungmin added, “She bought a burner phone, kept it under her pillow, and got caught.”
LABOUM reportedly didn’t have an explicit “no dating” clause in their contracts, but Yujeong explained, “The company was super strict about it. There were even CCTV cameras in the dorm’s shoe cabinet to check if we were going out. In our first year, I once went to a café just to get bubble tea and was immediately called in by the company and asked, ‘Where did you go?’”
Ryu Sujeong shared, “We didn’t have a written clause either, but we saw what happened when someone broke the rules. For example, they’d be removed from practice or not allowed to attend vocal lessons. That would reflect poorly on stage, so seeing that made us think, ‘We really shouldn’t date.’” Yujeong concluded, “We were basically gaslighted into living like that.”
Meanwhile, Yulhee embarked on a new chapter after divorce from Choi Minhwan. According to Herald POP on January 21, Yulhee was cast as the female lead in the short-form drama “My Partner is a Devil”.
